AACwins Homeland Security award

Advanced Acoustic Concepts has been selected by the Department of Homeland Security for a Phase II Small Business Innovative Research award for its continued work in providing a layered maritime defense for the United States.

DHS has divided the maritime domain into surveillance zones which range from outside U.S. waters to the U.S. coasts and ports. The AACYour browser may not support display of this image. award is for the Distributed Buoy Vessel Detection System which facilitates threat interception and interrogation of suspect vessels in zones well-seaward of U.S. waters. AAC's vessel detection system adds redundancy to the ship-tracking Automatic Identification System by identifying and tracking non-compliant or suspicious ships. The DHS Phase II award amount ranges from $750,000 to $2,000,000.

Advanced Acoustic Concepts is a distributed engineering firm, headquartered in Hauppauge, N.Y., with 12 locations nationwide. The Corpus Christi, Texas, and Bozeman offices support AAC's Homeland Security Division and will provide the prototyping and advanced engineering for the Distributed Buoy Vessel Detection System.
