MT Economy Discussed in Bozeman
KAREN MATSUMOTO

Some Montana business experts say that our state economy is doing well, but the state's resources are limited.
Evan Barrett with the Governor's Office made a field visit to TechRanch in Bozeman to talk about ways to promote small businesses and the need to diversify the economy.
He says Bozeman is a rich knowledge base with MSU research that needs to be taken advantage of. Barrett adds that Governor Schweitzer is committed to programs that help create new ways to be competitive with other state economies.
One of those plans starts with developing Montana's wind power.
"We have put in place the governor but in place a clean and green energy initiative in the last session, and with those things happening, and the market demand that's there, we're seeing very rapidly emerging a lot of wind power opportunities for exporting this to the markets that need it."
Barrett also emphasized that small businesses need support of programs like Bootstrap Montana to help stimulate the economy.
